Hodge Podge

First of all, I would like you to meet my newest pride and joy, joy, joy: the recipe box. I recently got my grandma to copy all of her yummy recipes for me, and have been meaning to get out my mom's recipe box and copy all my favorites from there as well. Well, I finally got around to it. And I have a cute new box to put them in.



I especially love the fabric on the inside.



I am so stinkin' proud of this box! I cannot wait to continue adding to it over the years to come and hopefully share these yummy foods that I grew up eating with a family of my own one day!

Moving right along...to this cute guy. I'm going to say a blurb (which cannot even begin to do justice) about him today, well, just because I think he's that great.



I think this boy is about the coolest person I know. If you know him, you love him too, it's a given. And I don't think Turner has ever met anyone he didn't like (we really balance eachother out well winkwink). He supports me in everything I do, ALWAYS thinks about others before himself, works hard at everything he does...and well is just so darn cute. I love him for his never-ending optimism, his passion(X100) for sports, his yearning to always be the better person, his selflessness and because of how much love he shows me daily. He makes me want to be a better person. So here's to Turner, for always being my biggest fan! (even when it's not easy! )

Good Reads

I love to read. I never had as much time in nursing school to read as I would have liked, so as I'm sure you can guess, I have been reading alot lately. Some books I HIGHLY RECOMMEND: (as in, go buy them now!)

The Help- I could not put it down, depicts life in Mississippi in the 1960s and is fabulous!



Spoken from the Heart- ok, if you like Obama or Clinton, this book might not be for you (and also I pity you if the above is true). This is Laura Bush's story of her life growing up in rural Texas, her life with twin daughters and her life as First Lady. I never knew how many awesome and incredible things she did behind the scenes, but she really was amazing! So So So So Good!



Let's Roll- Better late than never right? The story that Lisa Beamer wrote about her husband Todd Beamer, the man behind the plot on United Flight 93 on the morning of September 11, 2001. In case you don't remember, this plane, San Francisco bound, was hi-jacked and supposed to crash into the White House. Thanks to Todd Beamer and his new friends, it landed in a Pennsylvania field before it was able to get to the President. He was a really extraordinary man, and her story is tear jerking, but very worth it.



Common theme? Inspirational. I seemed to have been on an inspiration kick this summer.

Not Enough Snapshots of My Summer

I will preface these pictures by saying that this past summer (that is now officially come to a screeching halt, tear!) was one of the best and most relaxing summers I have had (since I was maybe 7 years old). And it also makes me realize that I NEED to take MORE pictures! These few pictures cannot even begin to describe my summer, but alas, they will have to do. I enjoyed weeks at the beach (St. George), many weekends at the lake (Compass Lake), lots of time using my new sewing machine, shopping and lunch dates with mom that I will miss dearly when I am working(but not to worry, we will definitly continue these play dates on my days off from work:)), not enough (but still some) much needed exercise time and TONS of just good ole R and R. I even learned to cook some! And I will say it again, oh what a JOY it is to be done with school! Enjoy some pics!

Back to School, Back to School (or in my case, work)

So this weekend I got to go back to Auburn for a few days. I have not been back all summer, so it was lots of fun to see everyone and go out (17 then Sky of course, nothing has changed in my absence). I dropped Turner off at class Friday and also went with him to buy his books, and felt like I havn't missed a beat. I didn't even feel like I had graduated, I felt just like everyone else, and even blended in still sportin the ADPi tees. The only difference: NO CLASS! woohoo, what an awesome feeling to know I never have to go sit in Miller Hall for another 4 hour nursing lecture at 7AM on Monday morning ever again! It was sad seeing everyone start back without me though, I do love Auburn and miss it!
But on a different note, those were also my last days of freedom. My big girl job starts bright and early tmrw (Monday) morning (actually dark and way early, I have to be at the hospital at 7AM). Yep, its gonna be rough since I have had 3 months of nothing but beach, lake, and relaxation. What a wonderful, wonderful summer I've had, but all good things must come to an end I suppose. Orientation lasts all of this week and then I will be working 3 days a week. I am doing liver transplants at Piedmont in Atlanta, something much different than I ever expected to be doing, but I am sure I will love it (or like it). I hope my schooling has prepared me well! Say a little prayer for me!
